Valor Mortis boss order

The Valor Mortis boss route below separates ten documented main opponents from repeat encounters and optional elites. Lothaire appears twice in the story, but counts once in this list. Names from Chapter 7 onward are behind the spoiler disclosure.

01 · CHAPTER 1 encounter / 2 required fight

Valor Mortis boss: General Lothaire, the Eagle-Bearer

The Battlefield → Valley of Ashes

The opening encounter can be lost without blocking progress. Return in Chapter 2 with the Pistol; use Fire, weak-point shots and parries to open a critical attack.

02 · CHAPTER 3

Valor Mortis boss: The Iron Marshall

Fallen Village

Use arena barrels to ignite it, then take a safe angle on the large back weak point. This enemy type returns later outside the main boss list.

03 · CHAPTER 4

Valor Mortis boss: Sphinx, Devourer of the Unworthy

Caverns

Watch the Stasis buildup and straight ground attacks. In the second phase, the exposed face gives you a firearm target.

04 · CHAPTER 5

Valor Mortis boss: Slaughtermill

Vale of Wrath / Old Windmill

Treat this as an obstacle-and-mechanism fight: weak points, Grapple routes and Stasis on moving gears matter more than repeated melee attacks.

05 · CHAPTER 6 beginning

Valor Mortis boss: Anna, the Bride Drowned in Tears

Cursed Hollow

Watch unblockable attacks and deal with nearby adds before committing to the main target.

06 · CHAPTER 7 beginning

Valor Mortis boss: High Justicar Aurelius, Last of the Faithful

The Outskirts

The fight changes across two phases. Parry readable melee strings; dodge red, unblockable attacks.

Valor Mortis boss: Experiment 83

The Outskirts / Lighthouse

Avoid the long grab before committing to damage. This fight ends the Outskirts section, not the whole of Chapter 7.

Valor Mortis boss: The Orphan

University

The University boss closes Chapter 8. Continue toward the Fortress afterwards; this index does not claim a tested move-by-move strategy.

Valor Mortis boss: Captain Raphael of the Nephtis Superioris

Fortress

The Fortress encounter closes Chapter 9 and leads into a temporarily restricted story sequence. Finish the returns you want to make first.

10 · CHAPTER 11

Valor Mortis boss: Entity, Voice of the Void

Caverns / Ancient Lair → Entropy

In Chapter 11, speak to Lucjan, travel to the Caverns and interact with the Ancient Lair stone door. The final encounter takes place in Entropy.

Valor Mortis boss preparation

  • Before a Valor Mortis boss fight, activate the nearest available Lantern, then look for the return shortcut before committing to the arena.
  • Prepare for each Valor Mortis boss with your current chapter equipment. The Pistol advice for Lothaire applies to the Chapter 2 return, not the opening duel.
  • For Valor Mortis boss preparation, spend scarce upgrade materials deliberately; a trophy route has different priorities from simply improving your favourite weapon.

Valor Mortis boss count and optional enemies

Eternal Guardsmen belong to Oathbound; elite enemies may guard collectibles or recur in later areas. These encounters do not increase the documented Valor Mortis boss count. We have not adopted unsupported claims about a Napoleon final boss or a separate set of secret bosses.
